Gateway Station (Sol) |
AusCo announced today that delivery of the next two "Cabeza de
Vaca" Class survey vessels to the Republic of Texas will be delayed by at least a
year. Company spokes person Justin Salayes stated that "There
were serious flaws found in at least 5 of the stutterwarp systems ordered for this
class of ship. The manufacturer has recalled the systems and AusCo has arranged for
completely new drives to be constructed." In the same statement AusCo
denied that the stutterwarp problem was responsible for the recent recall of the
"Cabeza de Vaca" to La Salle Station. AusCo has down played the significance of
this problems, but industry analysts predict large losses for AusCo Aerospace for at least
the next 2 quarters. Insiders also claim that the drive problems will delay the
delivery of at least 3 completed "Liberty" class cargo vessels which are based
upon the same design. (Aerospace Weekly) |

to Wellington L-5 station in Earth space and transported in several thousand section in a
small fleet of especially constructed ""super-transports"", each more
than 500 meters long.Prime Minister ApDafydd has stated ""This is a great day
for Britain and the empire, the Kafers are on the run, damage to British colonies has been
minimal and the beanstalk is go.""The beanstalk is just part of a massive
package of colonial investment being announced this week. Other items include rebuilding
interface facilities at Crater and placing new Power Satellites in the orbit of Joi. Also

When interviewed on that matter, the MP of the Department of Colonization, the Honourable
Scott Pearkes, only comments were:""Althought the data in our possession
about the first planet orbiting the star of AC+17 534-105 does show promisses, it is not
in our intents to move forward to its colonization until our firts colony on Doris has
reached self sufficienty... which will not occure, by our calculation, prior another 20
years."

La Salle Station (Tau Ceti) |
The Cabeza De Vaca returned from its shakedown cruise this week.
The crew was immediately isolated and the ship itself was swarmed by AusCo
technicians. Unofficial sources claim that the ship may contain defective warp units.
Within hours of the return, the ship was moved back into the new Manchurian
spacedock for unspecified repairs. AusCo has refused to comment on the

Lt. General Alice Paxton, commander of the American Arm Command, denied
rumors again today that there would be any wide-scale mobilization of Army assets both in
the Core or out on the Arms for movement into the French Arm. ""We don't
know where the hell these rumors are coming from...and frankly, they ain't true! Why don't

told to prepare to move anywhere!"" Rear Admiral Garcia, commander of
ASSF forces on the arm, reiterated the General's comments, ""Yes, we are
making quite a few naval and marine deployments, but the Commander-in-chief has not
relayed any orders to me about preparing to move any Army assets to the French Arm. So,
I'd like to tell the good people of Ellis to stop worrying." (Ellis
