Nueva Cordoba, Nuevas Malvinas Region, New Canberra
(Tirane) |
A New Canberra Police (NCP) precinct headquarters was damaged by a
mailbomb, believed to be set off by pro-Argentine separatists. This prompted a response by
both the regional Special Operations Group (""Soggies"") and
members of the Australian Defence Force peacekeeping brigade. Precinct Commissioner
Jose Arellano de Arruz, speaking to reporters following the explosion, commented, ""We
believe this is the
work of El Draco Rojo ('the Red Dragon') and his Ejercito Leal ('Loyal Army')group. The
Ejercito Leal has so far been the only separatist group to be this bold since the
'Head Knockers'
was brought in to assist local authorites to keep order."" He pledged that
the Soggies, Australian Federal Police and ADF intelligence units will work together to
bring El Draco
Rojo to justice. Still, sentiment in the barrios of Nueva Cordoba remains sympathetic to
the separatists. ""If the gringos don't want us to blow up their
buildings,"" an unidentified
Malvino said, ""they need simply to leave us alone. Despite what Bennelong
or Newcentre says, this is Argentine land. Once Argentina returns to Tirane, here, then
everything should
be settled...."" It should be remembered that the Nuevas Malvinas was
settled by those few former Argentine settlers who did not accept the popular merger of
the Santa Maria colony into New Canberra in 2183, as well as the ersatz 'Argentine
government-in-exile' which fled to Nueva Cordoba in 2206, ahead of the Brazilian
occupation of Buenos Aires following the First Rio Plata War.

Reginald Sykes, CEO of Sykes' Security, announced that the four
attackers were also seriously wounded by Kuchma's body guards. The identity of the
gunmen are not known at this time, but Sykes statement to the press left no
questions as to how his company
would handle the situation.
"Every assest that our company has will be utilized to uncover who was behind
this attack. We will not sit by passively while our clients and employees are gunned down
in the streets"
French authorities have issued no statement at this time, but late in
the day the medcial examiner's office confirmed that the four attackers had been killed
during the shootout. Roger Barns, United News |

In a press conference Maxim Industries announced they had finally solved
the AI problem. As most readers know, the AI programs have suffered the flaw of eventual
psychological problems, making AI untrustworthy. Maxim Industries claims to have solved
this problem by designing the AI not only as software, but as part of a Hardware/software
combination. The design is rumored to closely match the functions of the Human brain.
Anti-AI groups immediately held demonstrations against Maxim Industries. No word as to
when a demonstration of the new AI system will be presented. Maria Castillo, Computer

The Ellis State Legislature today approved the Ellis Telecommunications
(El-Tel) outsourcing initiative today, accepting the bid from the Banner Alliance. The
Banner Alliance,
made up of Ellis DataTech of Northbeach, Zion Software of Orem, and Trilon Microwave
Services of Liberty, specifically promised to ensure all services and equipment
would be produced on Ellis,
aside from those specialty products that as yet can't be produced on the world. ""We
believe this is a great opportunity for the citizens of Ellis,"" said
Lieutenant Governor Robert ""Bob"" Hunter(PC-EL), ""and
a shining example of public-private teamwork to offer services at a lower cost to
taxpayers."" Lt. Gov.
Hunter, who intends to challenge Anita Redd(AP-EL) for the national Senate, made that
statement as consumer and labor groups challenged the initiative. Mike Davis, an El-Tel
technician and shop steward for the Service Employees Interstellar Union local 6969,
responded to Hunter's comments.
""Well, we can't prove anything, but it seems the Lieutenant Governor
somehow got a huge campaign contribution right after the vote. While it smells fishy,
again, we can't prove anything. No matter, SEIU still plans to support Senator Redd's
reelection."" " Jakob Kronquist, Rimward Today
